About West Midlands Careers Hub

Our teams across Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton work tirelessly with 297 secondary schools and colleges to connect them with local employers and provide students with the resources they need to succeed.

Our mission is to develop a strong community of practice that delivers the Gatsby Benchmarks, which are endorsed in the Careers Strategy by the Department for Education. These benchmarks provide a framework for schools and colleges to improve their careers guidance and support, and our team is here to help them achieve that goal.

We collaborate with business partners, the public sector, education providers and voluntary organisations to ensure that young people have access to the best possible careers education and opportunities.

By working together, we can ensure that every student in the West Midlands has the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to achieve their career goals.

Our Regional Team focus on continuous improvement, building capacity in the system through our employer network, tackling disadvantage and improving the sustainability of transition for all young people .

Inspiring and supporting young people through strong education and business partnerships

We recognise just how important it is for our young people to gain meaningful work experience, have multiple interactions with employers and employees and learn about the skills our employers need now and in the future. We hope to inspire, educate and support young people to be the best version of themselves through strong local education and business partnerships.

The Greater Manchester Baccalaureate (MBacc)

The Greater Manchester Baccalaureate, or MBacc, is all about giving you a clear line of sight through technical education routes into high quality jobs within our city region.

As part of the MBacc, you can use Beeline to explore the 7 gateway sectors and look at real jobs in Greater Manchester’s economy. And now, you can explore virtual work experiences aligned to the gateways.

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority(GMCA) is made up of the ten Greater Manchester councils and Mayor, who work with other local services, businesses, communities and other partners to improve the city-region. We are working together to make Greater Manchester fairer, greener and more prosperous. 

GMCA is working to support and help prepare young people to actively participate and thrive in the economy. We are doing this by building on their ambitions, qualities, and skills in order for them to have fair access to the opportunities available across the sub-region.  

The GM Careers Hub brings together a network of over 250 secondary schools/colleges and 250 employers across Greater Manchester, with the shared goal of improving outcomes for young people. 

GMCA work in strategic partnership with the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) to deliver the national Careers Hub model.
