Met Office Careers - Forecasting Your Future

More about
Met Office
The Met Office offers several Early Careers opportunities including: Apprenticeships – across various areas of the company, including departments like Technology, HR (Human Resources), Finance, Project Management and Engineering. These apprenticeships are at different levels, from Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE passes), to Level 6 (equivalent to a degree). We are also keen to keep apprentices on as staff members once they have qualified, where possible, as the organisation has invested a lot of time and effort into their training and skills development. Industrial Placements – a 12-month programme, open to people studying an undergraduate degree which incorporates a placement year, as part of what’s called a sandwich course. During an industrial placement, you immerse yourself fully into the Met Office, and gain hands-on industry experience, working with staff who are experts in their field. There is also the opportunity to apply to return to the Met Office after an industrial placement, to join the organisation's Graduate Scheme. Graduate Development Scheme - lasts 12-24 months and gives access to a range of specialist guidance. It begins with an immersive induction into the Civil Service and the Met Office which is followed by structured training and placement rotations in different teams, to help you identify where your interests and strengths lie and the skills you need to develop, to thrive on the scheme and beyond. To apply for this scheme, you need to be educated to degree level.
