The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) is one of the largest acute and community providers in the West Midlands having more than 850 beds at the New Cross site, 56 at West Park Hospital and 54 at Cannock Chase Hospital. We are the largest employer in Wolverhampton, employing more than 11,000 staff in large variety of clinical and non-clinical careers. RWT offers a variety of work experience programmes. • #DiscoverMyNHS (14-16 year-olds) Hands on work experience in a simulated clinical environment plus, a hospital tour. Sessions include theatre, maternity and emergency department scenarios involving interactive manikins, laparoscopic surgery and birthing simulation equipment, patient observations and moving and handling. • #ExploreMyNHS Shadowing work experience exploring a specific clinical (16+) or non-clinical career (14+) such as nursing, health care science, finance, medicine, engineering, radiology etc. • Insight Days (Years 10-13) Exploring specific specialties, such as medicine, Allied Health Professionals, nursing and midwifery, health care science, medical physics, clinical engineering, spending the day in various seminars and hands on workshops. • #ChooseMyNHS (18-30 year olds) Over 5-6 weeks participants complete classroom-based learning including communication skills, patient care, application/interview skills and role-specific based training. Alongside this they undertake hands on work experience with a view to being offered paid work within the Trust. We offer volunteering opportunities across a range of wards and departments, providing volunteers with the chance to acquire diverse skills and gain insight into the various professions and career pathways within the NHS. RWT also offers exciting apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of departments and services.
